We Drank The Blue Milk From “Star Wars” And It Was Actually Amazing

Let’s just all agree that the most famous drink to come out of the Star Wars universe is Blue Milk.

20th Century Fox

For a refresher, the iconic drink first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope in a scene where Luke Skywalker sits down for a meal with his Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen.

And, to get technical, the blue milk is actually called Bantha milk because, well, it comes from Banthas, LOL.

So, when we heard you could ACTUALLY TRY BLUE MILK at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland our faces went a little something like this as we raced down to the park:

Oh, and FYI, you can also get GREEN MILK, which Luke famously drank in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Our first thoughts when we saw the beautiful beverage IRL? “OMGGG!!!”

Crystal Ro / BuzzFeed

It’s like a pretty sky blue smoothie?!

And here’s what we found out the Blue Milk at Disneyland is actually made of:

-Coconut milk

-Rice milk

-Pineapple

-Dragonfruit

-Watermelon

-And a few other ~secret~ ingredients.

**Also, both the Blue and Green Milk are totally plant-based, lactose-free, gluten-friendly, and vegan-friendly.**

Basically, it’s all stuff that’s a lot more appetizing than something coming from an animal that looks like this:

Don’t get us wrong, we love Banthas, they just don’t look like their milk would…taste…good?!

Brian was first to try it and he thought it tasted a like a delightful smoothie — though not as thick.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially since Blue Milk is such an iconic thing from the Star Wars universe. With that being said, I had high expectations…and, well, I was not disappointed. It was surprisingly refreshing (which now makes sense, perfect for a hot day on Tatooine) and not too sweet. The consistency reminded me of a horchata and it had subtle pineapple flavor (with some other flavors that were playing Jedi mind tricks with my head). I would definitely throw down some zemids for this!!!

Next was Crystal and she thought it tasted like sherbet!

I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that the Blue Milk was NOT made from dairy milk (my body can’t handle dairy, OK?!) and I was also impressed that it’s entirely plant-based. The consistency reminded me of a smoothie and had a kind of sherbert-y flavor to it! It wasn’t too sweet and I definitely picked up on the pineapple and tropical flavors. There’s a slightly tart aftertaste, but that’s probably just from all the real fruit used in this! Do I wish I could drink this everyday? HECK YES. Will I be able to? HECK NO. Unless Disney plans on letting me live inside Galaxy’s Edge… Dare to dream!

So, what’s the verdict? Blue Milk does a body good!

BuzzFeed

Brian: Whether you’re Light-sided or Dark-sided, you gotta try this at least once!!!

Crystal: Drink this only if you like delicious things!

Disneyland will offer Blue Milk (and Green Milk, which is a similar drink with just a bit more ~zing~) at the Milk Stand in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge starting May 31.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida will also have the drinks when Galaxy’s Edge opens there on Aug. 29, 2019.

  1. So, are you excited to try blue and green milk?!?!

Heck, yeah! I’ve always dreamed of it!

Oops. Something went wrong. Please try again later

Looks like we are having a problem on the server.
